Ben's First Swimming Lesson

One parenting job that I've been looking forward to is teaching my boy to swim. I love swimming and I hope Ben will too. So I was very excited today to take Ben to his first ever swimming lesson. Unfortunately he was actually a bit tired when we got there, also his compulsory swimming cap seemed to squish his forehead into a permanent scowl. And despite the best efforts of a very enthusiastic instructor he didn't seem to enjoy himself as much as I'd hoped. I was surprised that the dunking didn't appear to bother him (perhaps because it only happened twice) but he never seemed terribly happy just kicking around in the water. I'm hoping that he won't be so tired next time and maybe he'll feel more comfortable.
Anyway, he went through all the motions. Firstly putting on his Thorpedo outfit.

Then deciding that the budgie smugglers (with in-built nappy) would be more appropriate.
Next he limbered up with a few poolside push-ups.
There was also time for a team talk with his mate Taya (love the frilly bottom Taya). Then he jumped into the pool for a kick and a splash...

...and finished up with a bit of ball work.

How cute is that last pic! Sorry to have missed out this time, Alfie will be pleased to actually swim inside as his swims have all been al fresco so far!
