The 27th of March rolled around and we celebrated our third wedding anniversary. It was also Mum's birthday. That Mum and I lunched at honeysuckle and then went shopping in the afternoon. At 10:00pm that night my waters broke and I instantly went into pretty strong labour. When we arrived at the birthing centre (30mins later) I was 5cm dilated and labour was well under way. There was a minor complication (Ben did a poo in utero - he continues to be very good at pooing) which meant that we had to be monitored more closely and the NICU team were on call. But despite this drama the labour went well and Benjamin Snow aBeckett was born safe and well at 2:25am on his due date (Wed 28th March). Apparently only 2% of babies are born on their due date. Ben weighed 3.1kg (7 pounds) and was 50cm long. In a nutshell, labour is bloody hard work!! And grueling to watch (apparently). We're just glad it was so short. There was blood, sweat, tears, milk, vomit and poo!! Not pretty. Ben's middle name was my grandfather's nickname and we're sure that he would have loved to share it with his newest great grandchild.
