Totally Exhausted

I'm back!! After ten days in SA I'm back in NSW. After a very long day travelling yesterday Ben and I were greeted at the airport by a big smile and hugs from a lovely husband and father (who was very missed). And of course, Nanna Judy (solid rock that she is) was at home with dinner and dessert, and more hugs. I have to say that the last ten days have been amongst the most tiring of my entire life (including the four weeks after 28th March 2007). I am in complete and utter awe of my sister. She is truly the most amazing woman. I have millions of things to blog about, but I actually need a few days to recover. Also my camera is AWOL (bit of a storey - still hoping to get it back). Had an amazing time. My nephews are devastatingly cute and the life of the Fast Lanes made my head spin. Will blog again soon.

Let it Roll, Baby Roll 2

Ben just rolled from his back to his front!! He's been hinting at doing this for some time and has managed to get himself on to his side and almost all the way over. But today was the first time he completed a roll to full 'on my tummy and pushing myself up with my arms' position. Am so proud of him!! Now, all he has to do is put his backwards and forwards rolling together and he'll break on through to the other side (of the room).
Some authorship credit for this post must be given to Paul Ivey as one or two of the words used here were taken from a comment that he made on the first Let it Roll, Baby Roll post.

aBuckett and Spade

It was Fathers Day yesterday and Ben did his best to make sure that his Dad had a good day. He'd been planning things for a while and had gone to some effort. Firstly he got Mummy to carry him into Daddy's bedroom, where he was unwrapped and gave Dad a big smile and a stretch. After gooing and gaaing a bit (saving his vocalisation of the word 'Dad' for next year'), he let Daddy give him a bottle. Then he very obligingly went back to his bed, at which point Mummy and Daddy were able to have a nice sleep in.
After the sleep in, Ben gave Dad his presents. Ben had instructed Mummy to purchase matching shorts for him and Dad. He'd also asked her to get a couple of white T-shirts so that he could iron on some transfers, which said "a Buckett..." "....and spade". It's becoming clear that Ben has quite a way with words. He's obviously inherited his father's love of literature as he also gave his Dad a few books. We suspect that a couple of these are actually designed to encourage Dad to read to Ben so may not have been purchased in complete lack of self interest. All this considered, his Dad loved them anyway. Daddy was also rapt with his Bunnings gift vouchers (which had actually been floating around in Mummy's wallet for about 6 months - but then Daddy was even more pleased to hear that Mummy hadn't spent more than the monthly present budget allows).

Next on the itinerary was a quick bite to eat. Ben let Daddy feed him some farex (first time Ben had let Dad do this).

Then it was off to the beach for the highlight of the day's adventures. The weather was sensational. The boys took a moment to enjoy each others company while taking in the scenery, then Ben got his toes in the water.

Daddy got his whole body in the water.

And they finished up pretending to be a couple of turtles flippering up the beach.

We left our Team aBeckett foot prints on the sand and went home.

It was all very tiring for Daddy and he needed an afternoon nap.

Not surprisingly, so did Ben. Obviously this apple didn't fall far from the tree.
